Guaiwu is an art practitioner and a Ph.D. candidate in contemporary art at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. His works often focus his creative work on current dilemmas and the underlying systems behind them. Unrestricted by specific forms, he continuously develops his artistic language by integrating elements of myths, fables, local culture, and social fantasies.

Since 2020, feeling that his original working methods were struggling to adapt to a changing world, he has shifted his practice towards the pursuit of an "ideal homeland" to reflect repeatedly on reality. His ongoing "Return to the Mountains" series, set against various landscapes, tells stories about the spiritual home, attempting to pose questions about the "endpoint" of human existence.

In addition, Guaiwu is a design activist and researcher who sees design as a moral declaration and a medium to inspire discussion. He aspires to generate valuable narratives and thought experiments outside the script of consumerism. In 2017, Guaiwu founded the contemporary design collective Mentiongso, which actively engages in various issues within the Chinese social and cultural context through radical design, design comedy, speculative design, critical design, and social design, striving to act for a better society of tomorrow.
